Movie Review: Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola

Story: Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is the story of a village in Haryana which revolves around three people- Matru played by Imran Khan, Bijlee played by Anushka Sharma and Mandola played by Pankaj Kapur. Despite being based on a serious issue of Land scam, director Vishal Bhardwaj has tried to keep the film light-weight. Harry Mandola is a rich businessman whose daughter is Bijlee while Matru is Mandola’s driver. The chemistry between these three has been presented in a beautiful manner.

Acting: Pankaj Kapur has once again proved that he is a great actor. As Mandola, he has done full justice to his character. But, here Imran Khan has been the highlight of this film. Contrary to his image of a chocolaty boy, he has played a rustic Haryanvi in the film. This movie will definitely be a landmark in Imran’s career. Anushka Sharma on the other hand has also played her role with perfection.

Direction: After surprising the audience with Maqbool, Omkara and Kaminey, director Vishal Bhardwaj has once again done a great work by brining out the best from his actors. Another strong point of the film is its dialogues which are clean and funny.

Songs: Title song and O Boy look good and choreography is also up to mark.

Overall the film is a worth watch.

Director: Vishal Bhardwaj

Cast: Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma, Pankaj Kapoor, Shabana Azmi
